Castles, Castles and, oh yeah, Castles

Sydney ready to drive to the castles!
The past two days, we visited several castles, and by several I mean three, and by castles, I mean the crazy awesome things that you find everywhere else in the world, but America. They were made by Mad King Ludwig II and were really really pretty. Castle #1 was called Neuschwanstein Castle and was the castle that Walt Disney based Cinderella’s castle off of! We hiked up to it yesterday and wondered around the grounds, admiring the beautifully-free exterior. Then, we walked to Marie's Bridge where you get a beautiful view of Neuschwanstein and the waterfalls underneath the bridge. From there we hiked to Castle #2 which is called Hohenschwangau, it had a beautiful garden that we got to walk through with lots of fountains. There were definitely more people at Neuschwanstein than at Hohenschwangau which actually made Hohenschwangau more beautiful. Yesterday, we walked a total of 8 miles in the chilly, somewhat rainy day. It actually was quite pleasant and fally!

Today, we got up and eat crepes! I love crepes! "Oh, how very French of you" I know, I know, we are turning into quite the Frenchmen. Anyway, after breakfast we headed off to castle #3 known as Linderhof in the 2° snow rain. Brrr! This time instead of looking at the outside of the castle we took a tour of the inside! The Linderhof was inspired by Palace of Versailles and was very beautiful. It was decorated with lots of wall and ceiling paintings, and gold painted trimming. There were also lots of mirrors found in the castle. Sadly, we weren't allowed to take pictures of the inside of the castle but we did get some in the surrounding gardens! Brrr, it was cold but it was worth it to see the gardens in the freshly falling snow. Then, we ran to car to warm up and drive home. We spent the rest of the afternoon staying warm inside, eating grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. The trip thus far has been really good, hooray vacation!
